Which data can be processed?
Possible fields include title, author, publication details, language, document type and existing subject classifications. The fields captured or cleaned depend on your collection and intended use.
Publications without ISBNs can also be described and associated through an agreed collection identifier. Missing or unclear information is marked accordingly. We do not replace gaps with invented details.
From the source list to a target structure
- Review sample records and existing fields
- Define destination fields, naming rules and permitted changes
- Capture, structure and standardise the agreed information
- Mark missing values and unclear associations clearly
- Agree a sample delivery for the intended import
What is specified in the delivery?
Prepared data can be supplied in formats such as CSV or JSON. Field names, character encoding and links to document files are agreed. A file format alone does not guarantee compatibility with a catalogue or management system.
Additional checks, handling of duplicates and further cataloguing steps must be defined within the project scope. This keeps the work aligned with your actual requirements.
Material that helps us assess the work
An anonymised sample table, or one otherwise suitable for sharing, an approximate record count and a description of the destination system are useful starting points. Show typical ambiguities and list the fields you need in the final output.
Frequently asked questions
Do the books have to be scanned again?
No. Work can start from existing tables and digital documents. We assess the sources to establish whether additional capture is needed.
Do you automatically remove duplicates?
Duplicate handling is agreed beforehand. Matching titles may represent different copies or editions, so records are not merged without a defined rule.
